My 10 year old daughter s test read the following: O H S. typhi 1:40 1:20 S. paratyphi A 1:40 1:40 S. Paratyphi B 1:20 1:40 S.paratyphi C 1:20 1:40 I was told by the lab scientists that she doesn t have typhoid. Is this true. When i went to a pharmacist with the results. She still prescribed Amoxil and septrin with the malaria drugs prescribed for her should i give her the drugs?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. The WIDAL test report you have posted indicates that the titres are not indicative of typhoid fever. She might be having fever due some other form of infection. What medications which are prescribed can be taken now as per the prescribed course, as it would help to overcome infection. However, if the condition doesn't get better in about 48 hours with these medications, it is advisable to get her blood tested for malaria and then take malaria medications accordingly. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
